October is the month the season stops easing in and starts stacking up. The month starts with countries, and once that window shuts the Premier League runs four matchweeks without pausing. If you are opening a Bet9ja account this month, the promotion code is YOHAIG.

What you get for entering the code

There is a promo field on the Bet9ja sign-up form, and plenty of new users leave it blank. Type YOHAIG into that box and the YOHAIG promo code account is flagged for the welcome offer, worth up to ₦100,000 depending on your first deposit. The code cannot be added afterwards, so the field only works on the way in.

The code itself is free. It applies to new accounts only, and the bonus carries rollover conditions like every welcome offer in the Nigerian market. Read them on the promo page before you fund the account.

Open an account using the code YOHAIG for up to ₦100,000 as a welcome bonus.

The Super Eagles close the international window

The Nations League plays two more rounds from the 1st to the 6th, and the clubs sit out until after that. Nigeria close their own window with a friendly away to Russia at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium on Tuesday 6 October. No kick-off time was confirmed at the time of writing, so look it up before you build anything.

What the Premier League gives you this month

The clubs are back from Saturday 10 October. Arsenal versus Leeds United opens it at lunchtime, Manchester United take on Tottenham Hotspur later that day, and Liverpool host Manchester City at Anfield on the Sunday. A week later you get Everton versus Chelsea, Newcastle United against Aston Villa, and Nottingham Forest hosting Arsenal on Sunday evening.

The third matchweek opens on Friday 23 October with Ipswich Town against Nottingham Forest and runs through to Chelsea hosting Tottenham Hotspur on the Saturday evening. The final Saturday, 31 October, opens with Chelsea against Manchester United and ends with Aston Villa versus Fulham.

Worth noting: Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty on all but one of their 115 charges. No sanction had been confirmed when this was written. Should a points deduction follow, the outright markets reprice immediately, so read the news before backing anything long-term.

The clock change nobody plans for

UK clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, and Nigeria stays put. Up to Saturday the 24th, a kick-off listed in UK time is the same clock time in Lagos. From the 25th you add an hour, so a 15:00 English kick-off is 16:00 Nigerian time.

Practical notes for October

•

• Put the code in during sign-up, because it cannot be added later. The code only applies to a new account.

• Decide what the whole month costs you before 10 October. Four matchweeks with no break is a long stretch to stay disciplined.
