October is the month the season stops easing in and starts stacking up. An international window opens the month, and once it clears there are four Premier League matchweeks back to back with no break in them. If you are opening a Bet9ja account this month, the promotion code is YOHAIG.

What you get for entering the code

The promo field sits on the Bet9ja registration form and most people scroll straight past it. Type YOHAIG into that box and the account is flagged for the welcome offer, worth up to ₦100,000 depending on your first deposit. The code cannot be added afterwards, so the field only works on the way in.

The code itself is free. It applies to new accounts only, and the bonus carries rollover conditions like every welcome offer in the Nigerian market. Read them on the promo page before you fund the account.

Register with promotion code YOHAIG for up to ₦100,000 welcome bonus.

The first week belongs to the national teams

The UEFA Nations League runs its third and fourth rounds between the 1st and the 6th of October, so the opening week is international football only. Nigeria close their own window with a friendly away to Russia at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium on Tuesday 6 October. The kick-off time was still unannounced when this went up, so confirm it before you stake.

What the Premier League gives you this month

League football resumes on Saturday 10 October. The Saturday runs from Arsenal against Leeds United through to Manchester United versus Tottenham Hotspur, then Anfield has Liverpool against Manchester City on Sunday. The 17th and 18th give you Everton against Chelsea, Newcastle United versus Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest against Arsenal.

Matchweek eight starts on Friday 23 October with Ipswich Town versus Nottingham Forest and peaks with Chelsea against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening. October finishes on Saturday 31st, Chelsea versus Manchester United at lunchtime and Aston Villa against Fulham in the evening.

Worth noting: Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty on all but one of their 115 charges. The penalty had not been announced when this went up. If anything lands mid-season it moves the title and relegation markets hard, so watch the news before you touch a long-range bet.

The clock change nobody plans for

British clocks go back on Sunday 25 October and Nigeria does not move. Up to Saturday the 24th, a kick-off listed in UK time is the same clock time in Lagos. From the 25th onward, add an hour: a match listed at 15:00 in England starts at 16:00 in Nigeria.

Getting the most out of a busy month

•

• Put the code in during sign-up, because it cannot be added later. It is a one-time field.

• Decide what the whole month costs you before 10 October. Four matchweeks with no break is a long stretch to stay disciplined.
